Tori Lang is a singer and musician, raised in Cornwall and Gloucester, now living in South Wales. She was born into a family where singing and music were a big part of life, and her love for folk was founded. Many merry weekends were spent as a child at different folk festivals, experimenting with different workshops and generally being exposed to folk in all its glory. She credits a lot of her repertoire through ‘osmosis’.
She started singing at folk clubs at the age of 7, and as a guest/performer at festivals, clubs and music events since 2005, most recently at the Moreton in the Marsh Traditional Song weekend. Described by ‘Old Father Ted’ in 2004 as ‘shining bright right up there with them, an amazing new voice… singing with such bell-like clarity’. Since lockdown, she has added the Duet concertina to her repertoire. She can also be found teaching ‘Yoga for Singers’ at musical events and festivals. Previously of the duo ‘Ross and Lang’, she is daughter to two fine singers ,Ben and Heather Lang. It is no coincidence that Ben is now Chair of the Folk Club Committee.
You can expect: an entertaining evening of songs and tunes – mostly traditional folk songs with a smattering of contemporary songs for good measure, a good splash of chorus songs and an eclectic mix of uplifting tunes.
Tori has been connected with Bodmin Folk Club for many years, and we warmly welcome her back.
The club meets in an upstairs room but there is a stairlift if required. BYO alcohol but we do a great line in tea and biscuits
